The following is a list of common causes of problems with your electrical systems
First thing to look for is a tripped breaker in your circuit breaker panel.. If the plugs are in the kitchen, bathroom, garage or outside, another thing to look for is a tripped GFCI plug. These are plugs that have little black and red "Test" and "Reset" buttons on them. The plugs that are not working might not be GFCI plugs but can be downstream and protected by other GFCI plugs. Look for other plugs that aren't working in different rooms or exterior locations. If nothing can be found give us a call and we can trace the problem.
Assuming it is not just a bulb replacement this is frequently due to the fixture failing in some way. A secondary cause may be a switch failure. In these cases to minimize the cost of potentially incurring two service calls, one to diagnose and one to replace a light it is wise to have a replacement light that can be installed as part of the service call.
For these cases there are no easy fixes, you need to call us. This can range from a malfunctioning breaker that needs to be replaced to a broken wire or open ground that has to be traced.
We have seen a lot of issues from power surges that can occur during power failures. This includes frying electronics in furnaces and destroying breakers. Give us a call and we can figure out what is going on in your electrical system and install a whole house surge protector
A service call just diagnoses a problem in your electrical system, if the fix is small, we can incorporate it as part of the service call plus any cost of materials that we need. We stock a lot of common parts for fixing smaller problems. If the problem requires a large solution we will give an estimate but this will be additional to the service call. Paying attention to some of tips above can mitigate extra costs.
